Mammogram Report
INDICATION: New palpable right breast mass; patient's first mammogram.
GE DIGITAL BILATERAL DIAGNOSTIC MAMMOGRAM: There are scattered fibroglandular
densities bilaterally. The right breast demonstrates an irregular 11 x 11 mm
mass in the inferior, slightly outer qudrant with a surrounding area of
spiculation. In total, the mass and spiculated tissue measures 2.2 x 2.0 cm.
No associated microcalcifications are identified. The left breast is
unremarkable.
IMPRESSION: 11-mm mass associated with surrounding area of spiculation. The
appearance is concerning for a malignancy, but the patient provides a history
of acute onset and the possibility of infection/abscess is considered.
The patient could not remain for ultrasound today and this is scheduled along
with a core biopsy for next week. These findings were conveyed to the patient
as well as to Dr. Wainger's nurse at the time of interpretation.
BIRADS 5 - high suspicion for malignancy. Ultrasound is scheduled and a
biopsy is planned as well.
